We here at RTP headquarters plan to spend a lot of time on the road this year and the DIY guide is our attempt to make those many hours spent getting into and out of the van a little more cozy. Sometimes when you're in a foreign place, that's easier said than done, especially when it's 2 a.m. and you're driving around starving, wired, tired, and almost out of gas. Or you've got 4 hours to kill 'till the gig, but no idea where to spend it...
So we've started creating a list of the cool places we've discovered that have made our tours better (such as Al Rico's Tacos in Fresno - for the most amazing 50 cent tacos on the planet!). In addition to the essential spots to hit in each city, the guide will include other essential tips on how to book and promote your own tour. Currently, we're focusing on points of interest on the West Coast as that's where we'll be spending a lot of time in the coming months.
Here's how you can participate: Give us your comments! Just send us an email with your name and address (this will not be published or given out!), then jot down your tips for cheap/healthy/late night eats - cool cafes and other hangouts like book stores and record stores - cheap hotels that aren't creepy - and, if you are a musician yourself and are so inclined, list your own DIY tour tips (make sure to include the city & state you're describing).
The first 50 people to submit a valid entry will get a free 4-song RTP sampler CD!
Thanks for participating in the RTP DIY Tour Guide!
